FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
Why did you become a therapist?
Good question! I’ve always been deeply curious about people and drawn to understanding what helps us heal and grow. In early adulthood, I went through a traumatic experience that brought immense pain and confusion. Turning to therapy was my way of finding a path through it — and what I discovered changed my life.
Through the process of therapy, I became freer within myself — more self-accepting, more compassionate toward others, and less defined by what was happening in the external world. Therapy empowered me to live with greater intention and authenticity.
I wholeheartedly believe that psychotherapy, especially when there’s a good match between therapist and client, can profoundly enhance self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and relationships. I feel privileged to do this work and to witness the transformation that becomes possible when people are supported in reconnecting with themselves.
What kind of therapy do you offer?
I offer a dynamic and integrative approach to therapy, meaning the work always adapts to each client’s unique needs and goals. My style is rooted in humanistic, relational, and psychodynamic principles — emphasizing curiosity, self-awareness, and the healing power of authentic relationships.
Depending on what best supports you, I may incorporate cognitive, narrative, somatic, and mindfulness-based practices. For clients interested in deeper exploration, we may also work with symbolism, dreams, and unconscious patterns.
When addressing substance use or compulsive behaviors, I take a harm-reduction and trauma-informed approach, using motivational interviewing to support meaningful change at a pace that feels safe and empowering. I am also trained in ketamine-assisted psychotherapy and offer psychedelic integration therapy for clients seeking to process or make meaning through spiritual or non-ordinary states of consciousness.
Do you offer online or in-person therapy?
Both! I hold in-person sessions in Oakland, and I can meet online with clients anywhere in California. Whether you prefer the comfort of meeting virtually or the depth of in-person work, we can choose the format that best supports your needs and lifestyle.
How often should we meet?
The most effective way to make meaningful progress is to stay consistent with your sessions and approach them with honesty and openness. Most people begin to notice relief or change with weekly sessions. Some clients benefit from meeting more than once a week, especially when they want a regular space to process ongoing challenges or work through complex issues.
As progress is made, we may gradually reduce the frequency to bi-weekly sessions. Ultimately, the best frequency is one that feels supportive, sustainable, and aligned with your goals at each stage of therapy.
Do you accept insurance?
I am considered an out-of-network provider and am not directly paneled with any insurance. I understand that many clients want to use their benefits to pay for sessions, and in those cases, I can provide a superbill for reimbursement. Your insurance may offer reimbursement for your sessions- please reach out to them to learn more about your benefits. I also provide spaces on a sliding scale for those who cannot afford my full fee.
